Cafés in and around Campus

For the uni student, the most valued characteristic of anything food and drink related (especially if it’s caffeine) is convenience. In this article you will find some great coffee/tea options, all within walking distance from campus. For those who value convenience above all else, we’re focusing on the ones on campus, while for those who are looking for the best coffee nearby, we’re looking at students’ favourite coffee shops in the surrounding area.

On campus

The three most convenient places to get hot beverages and/or snacks are the Library Cafe, located on the ground floor of Goldsmiths Library, the Students’ Union Cafe (second floor of the Students’ Union building) and Thirty Five in Richard Hoggart Building (RHB).

Pro tips:

  • If you bring your own cup, you are not only helping the environment, but saving money by making use of a discount.
  • The Library Cafe will fill your cup with hot water for free.

Around campus

Costa Coffee is so close to campus that it’s basically on campus. It’s located just opposite RHB, so if the on-campus cafés don’t have the drink you are looking for, Costa is just a minute away. The best cafés closest to campus are probably Mughead Coffee and Red Lion Coffee Co. They both offer great coffee and tea, as well as cakes (with great vegan options), sandwiches, croissants, etc. If you are looking to go for a walk, it might be worth checking out some of the places around Deptford, such as London Velo, Stockton and The Coffee Room.

Pro tips:

  • Costa Coffee also offers a discount when you use your own cup.
  • Mughead may look full from outside, but the downstairs area usually has seats available.
